MIDDLE SCHOOL ADMISSION APPLICATIONS
The deadline for the Middle School Application is Thursday, Dec.1. At this time you should be narrowing down your schools and ranking them. As you all know, this is a lottery, so I strongly advise you to add up to 12 schools by preference. If you need any help with the application process, please let me know. I am more than happy to help. Also check out the Middle School page of our website. Middle School Information is also available at the DOE’s Middle School page
A MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT 15 COMMUNITY EDUCATION COUNCIL
I would like to make you aware of an exciting opportunity to serve in a leadership position as a member of the Panel for Educational Policy (PEP)! Apply by November 23 to be considered for one of the 5 seats on the panel reserved for 5 parents, one from each borough.
The PEP is responsible for some of the most significant decisions affecting NYC’s education system. It votes on the Chancellor’s proposed education policies, including school closings, co-locations, and grade expansions; DOE contracts; and, most importantly, the DOE’s budget. The PEP also advises the Chancellor on general matters affecting the city’s school districts and its students.
PEP meetings are open to the public, and scheduled meeting dates, minutes from past meetings and videos of past meetings are posted on the PEP page on the DOE’s website. Each monthly meeting includes a “public comment” section. The application is available in all languages on the DOE website. Please fill it out and send it to PEPParentApplications@schools.nyc.gov no later than November 23. Your application will be reviewed and voted on by the 32 Community Education Council presidents. If you are elected, your term of service will begin on January 15 and end on June 30, 2023.
I hope you will consider this opportunity to serve the children of New York City!
