PTA & SLT board: Upcoming Elections

At the PTA’s May general meeting (5/24 @ 6:30p), we will be holding elections for the entire executive board and SLT parent positions.

Without a fully functioning executive board everything from the execution of beloved events like the Boo Bash, to in-school programming like Music classes and assemblies, will be at risk for the coming school year.  Volunteering your time and skills to be on the board is the best way to ensure your voice is heard and everything that makes our school special can continue uninterrupted into the next school year and beyond!

These roles do not need to be a huge time commitment; many of us in parent leadership are full-time working parents, parents of multiple kids, or both! No experience is necessary—and we encourage diverse candidates. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out  at pta_info@ps154.org, or read this message from PTA President Dani Kim, for all the details, and more on what the roles entail.

There are also 3 available spots on the SLT; connect with Cindy Segal at cindysiegel74@gmail.com with any questions!

The following executive board positions are available [most-needed roles are highlighted!]:

  • Co-Chairs of Fundraising

  • Co-Treasurers (2 roles - must run as a slate)

  • Chair of Fundraising Events

  • Chair of Community Events

  • Chair of Technology

  • Chair of Auctions and Sponsorships

  • Chair of Volunteer Coordination

  • Chair of Events-Food Coordination

  • Chair of Programs

  • Recording Secretary

  • President (must have served one year on the board)

  • President-Elect

  • Chair of Communications and Marketing

  • Chair of After School

  • School Store Manager

  • Members at Large (8 roles, including a 5th Grade Committee Chair and 4 positions held for new/incoming parents.

More information on each role and what it requires can be found in our PTA of PS154 bylaws. These roles do not need to be a huge time commitment; many of us in parent leadership are full-time working parents, parents of multiple kids, or both! No experience is necessary—and we encourage diverse candidates. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out  at pta_info@ps154.org
